I love comics like this they’re so unintentionally telling about the creator. Someone sat down and decided they’d literally advertise the fact that when you don’t allow them to substitute enforcing bigotry for actual insight then they’re completely out of material
Insight doesn’t sell. Clever, sensitive media doesn’t make any money, because people who -Would- buy culturally sensitive media DON’T HAVE ANY MONEY. They’re generally down on the whole Having money thing.
So, media gets made for people who are paying. What the Above comic is saying is: We could make something that was funny and didn’t offend anyone, but it wouldn’t be the Bloody Meat that our core demographic wants. And more to the point, it wouldn’t really be that funny. Just read the ‘Funnies’ in a major american newspaper to get an idea. They don’t want to Offend anyone, so they keep the subject material Tamer than a sedated labrador.
Humor is going to offend someone, Somewhere. You make fun of something, and Somebody is gonna pop out of the woodwork saying that they were triggered, it’s Not Funny, and everyone should stop what they’re doing to chastize the author.
Also, Don’t bother sending any hatemail this way, I’ll be outta the house all weekend at a furry con being a gigantic dork. Feel free to make fun of me as much as you’d like though, because unlike some people I can take a Joke.
